The tour inside Vatican City with the Swiss Guard was extraordinary. It is a great way to deepen one's understanding of this great city. After several visits over the years to Saint Peters Basilica and place and Vatican Museum, getting a chance to have a privately guided tour behind the scenes helps to understand many aspects of this wonderful unique place on earth. Peeking into the Vatican library, touring the Swiss Guard installations, visiting the thousand year old archive on top of the basilica, witnessing how mosaics are constructed from painted art were all very insight-fully commented by the expert guide.

Rental in Rome

I arrived to work at the World Food Programme for 6 months in October. A colleague at WFP recommended Ursula Pruegger to help me to find an apartment in Rome. I find it is more pleasant renting your own apartment than living in hotel rooms. Ursula identified some apartments that might be suitable for me from contacts she has in the Rome property business. She took me round to show me them and to translate for me as I hardly speak any Italian. She is very fluent at English and Italian. The estate agents wanted me to pay a large initial sum of money in cash and my bank was not able to get the money to Rome by the date it was requested so Ursula very generously and very trustingly lent me a large amount of her own money in cash to be able to make the payment while the money was coming through from my bank in London. Thanks to Ursula, I quickly found a suitable flat not too far from WFP.
